Omega is the first performance management application for Marketo. Omega gives Marketo users insights that help them correct problems, improve performance and insightful metrics for marketing operations.

Challenges

The main challenge was to improve overall user experience while interacting with the product.

So either it is a user who works with this product every day, only once per week or just logged in to the system for the first time - every user has clarity and a good understanding of what to do and how to get maximum from the insights data in OMEGA, including but not limited to:

  • Dashboards to show the main highlights at a glance
  • Click-through charts (that get user to the deeper level of details)
  • Some re-grouping of data within specific section to be more intuitive and helpful
  • Notification preferences
  • Empowering with useful hints and tooltips

UX Smart Start package allows to start work on key challenges fast. Starting from brainstorming and sketching, we end up with clickable prototype (e.g. in Invision or Axure) that allows to validate UX and UI ideas quickly and more effectively.

Developing clickable prototype to show all the selected solutions(so it could be already shown to the current and potential OMEGA clients as well as used by OMEGA dev team as a clear guide during the implementation).

Although it got through the first several rounds of gathering feedback (at the conferences and demos), some ideas are currently in progress.

  • Initially 3 weeks (after which the cooperation was expanded to 5 weeks).

Our Solutions

Challenge:

  • Not clear relations between table and the chart.
  • User doesn't know that the line is clickable to display it on chart.

Solutions:

  • Combined chart and table to one logical object.
  • Added check boxes for each line in the table for displaying each of elements on the chart.

Challenge:

  • Some of chart had drill down and some don't.
  • But users never knew which chart has drill down before they clicked.

Solutions:

  • Designed an icon that is shown near all charts with drill down.

Challenge:

  • Click on chart was doing additional date-picking function for all page.

Solutions:

  • Timeline to specify selected date range.

Challenge:

  • The combination of legend for the chart with additional information caused cognitive confusion and took too much vertical space.

Solutions:

  • Added chart and table modes switcher to save vertical space.
